Stoke Climsland Parish

N&C recently assisted in the renovation of the Stoke Climsland Parish situated in the village of Stoke Climsland, in the centre of Cornwall. The church, originally founded by King John in c.1215, had undergone a complex modernisation project.

The parish wanted to encourage a wider population of the community to attend the church, as well as to utilise the existing space to facilitate other community functions, so that it could be used as a community hub, whilst respecting that the primary function as a place of worship.

N&C supplied 120m2 of ultra-thin limestone effect floor tiles with a specially sourced and crafted Alexandrea Egyptian grey limestone for a tiled cross feature in the centre of the church. The design complements the aesthetics of the 13th century historical church building. Installed with under tile heating, the new floor helped to create a more comfortable environment within a usually cooler setting.

N&C Nicobond adhesives and screeds were used throughout the project with all movement/expansion joints and metal infills colour matched for a flush and flawless finish. Nicobond D-Mat 3L decoupling mat was used as the go to sub-floor preparation system.

The parish, Heritage Cornwall (Contractor) and architect (Lepage) aimed for the historical value of the listed building to be maintained whilst ensuring that the modernisation was in keeping with the traditional feel of the church.

N&C have a strong relationship with the contractor and architect who relied on N&C’s service extensive knowledge and experience in completing ma number of similar projects on behalf of The Church of England.
